LETS GO THUNDERBIRDS

Kick Start through 4th-grade WOWE students recently enjoyed an exciting learning adventure at the School Forest, where they explored the Three Sisters Garden!
Next up, 5th and 6th graders will join in early November to learn about the “eldest sister” corn, with a special lesson from the White Earth Tribal College Extension Office on making corn mush!
We’re excited to continue these meaningful outdoor experiences at the School Forest!

WOWE students from Kick Start through 4th grade recently enjoyed a hands-on learning adventure at the School Forest, exploring the Three Sisters Garden! Kick Start through 2nd grade focused on the little sister: squash. They learned that pumpkin is also in the squash family. 3rd and 4th graders took a deeper look at the middle sister: bean. They even got to package bean seeds that will be handed out during the White Earth Tribal College Extension Seed Distribution event in the spring.
Students also engaged in three stations:
Station 1 was a hands-on math activity.
Station 2: Learning Ojibwe harvest-related words while gathering seeds.
Station 3: Observed the natural world during the “Get in the Moment” activity and enjoyed a hike and a story about the Three Sisters.
Next up, 5th and 6th graders will join us in early November to focus on the eldest sister: corn! The White Earth Tribal College Extension Office will be teaching a traditional corn processing experience.
We’re thrilled to keep these meaningful Outdoor Experiences going at the School Forest!

End of Quarter 1 is Friday November 1st.

6 Days until our Mock Election on Tuesday, November 5th. Students can vote during breakfast and lunch on the stage. Voting ends at 2:00pm. Voting isn't just for the President but will include Senators, US Representatives, City Council, School Board and more. Our ballot will look just like the real city of Waubun ballot. Take the time to research all candidates. Everyone's vote is their own personal choice that we must respect. This is what makes Democracy a great thing!!!! Check your email for what the ballot will look like so you know who to research.

No Indian Education after school activities on Thursday (Halloween and Football playoffs).
A student fan bus is being offered by Mahnomen for students in grades 7-12. 7th and 8th graders will need a parent or guardian to ride with them. It is $10 to ride and this money needs to be turned in by NOON, WEDNESDAY. You will still need to buy your $5 ticket at the FargoDome. If you would like to sign up for the bus let Kohler know.
Our Waubun Choir students did an outstanding job at their choir concert on Monday night. Check it out on our Youtube channel.
