Today in the Forest: 4th Grade Reflections & Explorations
Our 4th-grade students spent a meaningful half-day at the school forest, diving into hands-on learning and nature-based discovery through two engaging rotations.
Rotation One: Nature Hike & Spring Discoveries
Start with a moment of stillness to ground their minds and bodies—practicing the art of observation with the prompt:
“If I notice… this makes me wonder…”
Students then set off on a nature hike where they found signs of spring and erosion in nature. From dog weed emerging near the pond to fresh moss, budding wildflowers, and even bear prints in the soil—each moment invited curiosity and wonder.
Rotation Two: Erosion Experiment & Stream Table Exploration
Students explored erosion and land formation through a stream table experiment. They formed hypotheses and observed water movement—becoming true scientists in the field.
Nature was their guide today, and their reflections were powerful. We’re so proud of their curiosity, connection, and care for the natural world.

Kick Start Classes Explore the School Forest!
This morning, our Kick Start students headed to the school forest for a morning full of outdoor experiences!
From hands-on learning to joyful exploration, the school forest becomes a living classroom where curiosity leads the way. Whether they’re collecting leaves, spotting animal tracks, building with natural materials, or simply listening to the sounds of the woods — every moment outside is filled with discovery.
Why Outdoor Learning Matters:
• Boosts physical health through active play and movement
• Increases focus and engagement in learning
• Sparks creativity and imagination
• Supports emotional well-being by reducing stress and anxiety
• Builds social skills through teamwork and communication
• Strengthens connection to nature and fosters environmental stewardship
We’re proud to provide these early learners with the chance to grow, explore, and thrive in nature. Here’s to muddy boots, big smiles, and learning that sticks!

Jr. High students have been making some beautiful scratch art!
