Native American Heritage Month dress up days for next week (Nov 11-15)

Students from Mrs. Bement's 1st grade had the opportunity to take the teacher's role this week and teach a lesson to the rest of the class. They both did a directive draw and called on students that were sitting quietly to help them! I think we have a couple of future teachers here at Ogema Elementary!

School Forest News
🌽✨ This week, our 5th and 6th graders immersed themselves in an unforgettable day of learning at the Waubun School Forest! Guided by the White Earth Tribal College Extension Office, students explored the legend of the Three Sisters and practiced traditional corn processing techniques like pounding, winnowing, parching, and milling. They even got to taste corn mush topped with maple syrup and berries—a delicious treat that connects us to cultural traditions!
The day was filled with unique experiences: students hiked to explore different Three Sisters stories. We also added some math skills to the mix, as they calculated Farmer John’s cornfield yield.
A highlight for many was our “Get in the Moment” activity, where students took time to quietly observe and connect with the natural surroundings. These hands-on lessons gave everyone a chance to dive into cultural storytelling, practice measurement, and reflect on the beauty of our community’s traditions.
