Calling all adventurers! Are you ready to hit the trails and track down a 7-foot Sasquatch? 🏃♀️🌲
Here’s how to join the fun:
✅ Hike, ski, or snowshoe at Waubun School Forest with a partner (an adult must be present).
✅ Sign in at the Bomber Hut before heading into the woods.
✅ Find Sasquatch, snap a pic with him, and text or email it to 218-401-2421 or Fitnesschallenge@whiteearth-nsn.gov.
✅ Explore during daylight and non-school hours.
✅ Be prepared—dress for the weather, bring a phone, and respect nature.
📅 Contest ends March 31, 2025. Prizes will be awarded in April!

🍁 7th Grade Sugar Bushing at the School Forest 🍁
Our 7th graders recently experienced the incredible tradition of maple tapping at the School Forest! This hands-on learning opportunity brought together School Forest Teachers and 7th Grade Teachers, working in partnership to connect students with both the science of tree identification and the science behind what makes a sustainable maple tree.🌳🍂
During the experience, students:
🍁 Explored Ojibwe phenology, learning how seasonal changes signal the right time for tapping
🌲 Identified trees and gathered data to determine which were best for tapping
📏 Measured tree height, circumference, and health to ensure sustainable maple syrup production

Superior Ratings went to Cora McArthur and Rory Lhotka for their mallet duet and Aden Hoban and Travis Bevins for their brass duet.
The saxophone trio of Kendall McArthur, Sadie Schneck, and Presley Zima received an excellent rating.

🌿 Outdoor Learning in Action! 🌿
First graders had an unforgettable day exploring, creating, and playing in nature! From crafting clever leprechaun traps to whipping up imaginative creations in the outdoor kitchen, their creativity was on full display. They also tackled the obstacle course, experimented with outdoor painting, and fully embraced hands-on learning.
There’s nothing like the great outdoors to spark curiosity and wonder!
