The Penny Wars start today! The proceeds will go to the Humane Society of the Lakes. Remember: Pennies count positively and other change and bills count negatively. The grade with the largest positive balance in their container will be the winner.The Penny war containers will be on the stage before school and during lunch. Remember to put pennies in your grade's tube and everything else in another grade's.

Energy Snack Bites
On Saturday, February 19th, three Thunderbird girl wrestlers participated in the first section tournament for girls wrestling in the state of Minnesota in Sartell, MN. Seventh grade November Nelson competed in the 145 pound class. IN her first match she defeated Annable McGrath of Mora to make the semifinals. She then lost to Abby Ervasti of Bertha-Hewit-Verdale. In the third place match she lost a very close match to Cruze Rojas of Blooington Kennedy. November ended up in fourth place. Sophomore Carmen Mason competed in the 165 pound weight class. She received a bye to the semifinals and then lost to Kami Salyncki of Cambridge-Isanti. In the third place match, Carmen lost to Sakura Williams of Minneapolis-Edison. Carmen ended in fourth place. Senior Sophia Rojas competed in the 152 pound weight class. In the semifinals, she lost to Shean Ariea' Millier from Minneapolis Edison. She then defeated Macie Webb of Bemidji in the third place match. In the true second match, she lost to Lyndsy Nosbush of Mora. Sophie placed third, and Just missed going to the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament as only the top two qualify.

Girls basketball against Cass Lake-Bena (previously scheduled for 2/18) has been rescheduled for Friday, February 25th. The games will be played in Mahnomen. Boys basketball against Thief River Falls (previously scheduled for today) has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 3rd. The games will be played at Lincoln High School. Go Thunderbirds!
