Indian Education Culture Camp ended their busy day with a drumming lesson and storytelling from Brandon "Bam" Kier. Since it is powwow week the students spent a lot of time this week learning about all of amazing traditions and history powwows have in our Ojibwe culture and community.

Culture Camp: After fishing students took a little walk to learn about local plants and traditional medicines and foods. Megan was a great teacher today by showing the students how to keep a journal or notepad to write down plants and what they can be used for.

Week 2 of Indian Education Culture Camp. This morning we partnered with White Earth Natural Resources for a fishing and canoe trip on Little Elbow. Students learned the basics of canoeing and caught some little fish off the dock. There are still open spots for culture camp and 2 weeks left: call Dejah at 218-473-6120 if you would like your child in grades 5-8 to join. Miiqwech to WE Natural Resources for their continued partnership and help.

Summer Rec Baseball and Softball reminder. Parents / Guardians will need to pick up their child at the end of the ball games. Our Summer Rec bus will already be departed by the time the games are done. Please make arrangements to get your child in a timely manner after the games are done at the Waubun Softball Field when they return. A follow-up message will be sent out when the school is informed that the bus is back on its way to the Waubun Softball field. Thank you.

Another Activity from Culture Camp on our first day! We started out the morning learning about the Medicine Wheel with Megan Lhotka. Students learned how the Medicine Wheel transfers to our health and body. There are still open spots for Culture Camp. Call Dejah Anderson to register 218-473-6120. Grades 5-8

Culture Camp: Doctor Megan Lucas joined us to talk about becoming a going into Pediatrics. Megan is from Minneapolis and also works some time in White Earth. She spoke with the students and taught them basic suturing skills. The students were very engaged in learning how to suture. Miigwech Dr. Megan. We will continue hands on health activities every Monday and Wednesday morning during Culture Camp.
