Mr. Varriano and his lifetime sports class playing some Horseshoes in the park!

A study of creativity: Students in Ms. Skersick's Jr. high art class were given a sheet of paper with a dime sized dot in the center, and were asked to draw something using the dot within 7 minutes. It was a simple "warm up" exercise. There can be discomfort in ambiguity, yet training students to think like an artist can teach comfort in the unknown, which in turn welcomes creative thinking. Some students were incredibly imaginative; others who maybe felt stuck got inspo/ideas from fellow students in their vicinity and still managed to beautifully display and shed light upon their own inherent uniqueness-as unique as handwriting, within their own drawing. This exercise was not about drawing skill, but rather it was about idea generation under pressure. Looking forward to see what these young creators will do the rest of the semester!
