
On Wednesday the Envirothon Team had a Fun Day!! We traveled to Saint John's, NB to attend a Science Expo & had some time to explore downtown for lunch and a little shopping.
We then went to Irving Nature Park for a group picture & supper! We spent time on the beach, did a scavenger hunt & explored the beautiful walking trails.










Thursday was sequestration day. The envirothon team was dropped off at 9:00 am where they received 2 hours of instructions and study time. They then will be taken to a room where they will have 6 hours to create a presentation that is up to 20 minutes long on a real life scenerio. During this time, they will have no contact with anyone other than the competion judge. Presentations will be done Friday morning and their scores will added to their Thursday scores.

Team Minnesota completed their long day of Field Testing Tuesday Evening. Afterward, we all enjoyed a picnic near the beach & a swim in the Gulf of St Lawrence of the Atlantic Ocean.
Tomorrow is FUN Day! We will be taking a road trip to Saint John, New Brunswick!




Monday was training day for the Envirothon teams. Teams were taken to soil, water, forestry, wildlife and current event stations to learn specific skills and knowledge needed for testing day. No pictures/cell phones were allowed to prevent any cheating. Training session lasted from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. At 7:30 pm, there was a mandatory 2 hour supervised study session to confer and go over what was presented and learned at the stations. Again, no pictures/cell phones or written notes were allowed to prevent cheating. Tuesday is testing day.











Today is the Field Test Day for the Envirothon Team!!
Send them positive thoughts as they travel to the testing site this morning.
As a team, they will have 55 minutes at each of 5 testing stations. The testing areas are Wildlife, Forestry, Aquatics, Soils & Current Events. Each test is worth 100 points & their scores from today will be combined with the Oral Presentation scores on Friday.

*White Earth Home Health will be onsite to offer immunizations to any students in need--you do not need to be a student-athlete to receive your required immunizations.

On Friday July 21st- The Waubun Envirothon Team traveled to Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada for their week at the North American Envirothon Competition!
Saturday July 22nd they enjoyed an afternoon kayaking in the Bay of Fundy off the Atlantic Ocean. Opening Ceremonies begin tomorrow(Sunday July 23rd)

Thursday, July 20th 12 U softball tournament.


On Thursday, the Waubun Envirothon team worked on soil testing. They reviewed the 7 characteristics of soil concentration on soil pH and bulk density. They also reviewed the 13 macro and micronutrients, soil formation and how to read the soil tables of New Brunswick in preparation for the North American Envirothon, July 23 thru the 28th.

The Waubun Envirothon team was out along Spring Creek to learn about soil horizons Monday night. They leave for the North American Envirothon in Sackville, New Brunswick Canada next Friday the 21st.
