Arvig Seeks Area Students for Annual Essay Contest;
Chance to Win All-Expenses Paid Trip to Washington, D.C.
PERHAM, Minn., FEB. 5, 2019—Arvig is pleased to announce its annual essay contest to send one area student to visit Washington, D.C., for the Foundation for Rural Services (FRS) Youth Tour, June 1 – 5, 2019. The essay prompt for the contest is “Technology and Rural Life.” Essays and completed applications are due to Arvig by email before 11:59 p.m., Thursday, February 28.
“We know the kids in our rural communities are our future leaders,” said David Arvig, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President at Arvig. “Opportunities like the Youth Tour allow students to meet people from across the country while learning more about how the decisions made in Washington directly impact our life in rural Minnesota. We’re pleased to sponsor a student for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
The chosen student will be one of more than 100 high school students from rural America who will win an all-expenses-paid trip to explore our nation’s capital and get an inside look at the legislation and governmental process of the telecommunications industry.

January Seven Grandfather Teachings Awards:
The Seven Teachings, also known as Seven Grandfather Teachings, are a set of principles we conduct towards other people. These seven teachings encompass virtue among the Anishinaabe or Ojibwe culture and are similar in nations and reservations across the United States. This month's teaching is TRUTH - Debwewin is to apply faith and trust in your actions. Show honor and sincerity in all that you say and do. Understand your place in this life and apply that understanding in the way that you walk. Be true to yourself and all other things.



The football championship rings will be here Friday, Feb. 8th around lunch time. Any leftover balance will have to be paid before you can get your ring. Balances can be paid over the phone by calling 1-800-JOSTENS or they can pay in CASH at delivery. An email will also be sent from the Josten rep with pay instructions.

We Need Your Input
As Waubun Ogema White Earth Schools are facing increasing enrollment, we need your help in establishing a plan for the next coming years. Please join us and ICS at one of our community meetings to give your input on the best direction for WOWE schools. The Ogema Community Meeting will take place at 6:30 at the Ogema Media Center on February 11th the Waubun Community Meeting will take place at 6:30 in the Commons at Waubun School.

Sweetheart Dance- Saturday Feb. 16th from 1-3pm- Students in grades K-6 are invited to bring their favorite adult (mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, etc.) advanced tickets are $20/couple and $5 for each additional student- DJ, Cupcakes, refreshments, photo booth. Grand March is at 1:30pm- purchase tickets from Dejah in the Guidance Office
