🌲 Winter Camp at the Waubun School Forest ❄️
Today, Kimmerle's 4th graders and some of Michaels's 10th, 11th, and 12th graders came out for a meaningful Winter Camp experience at the Waubun School Forest. The day celebrated the beauty of nature, the richness of Ojibwe culture, and the wonder of winter wildlife.
Here’s what they explored:
📖 Ojibwe Storytelling: Students learned about the important role winter storytelling plays in Ojibwe culture, preserving traditions and teaching life lessons.
🐦 Winter Birds: They studied the unique behaviors of winter birds and created suet cakes to support these resilient creatures in our forest.
🌨️ Outdoor Exploration: Embracing the crisp winter air, students connected with the natural beauty of the School Forest.
We’re proud to provide opportunities like these that deepen students’ understanding of culture, community, and the environment.

SnoDaze Dress Up Days:

Student Council will be hosting Coin Wars during SnoDaze. Students can put ANY coins into their class box on the stage before school for positive cash. You can put dollar bills into other class boxes as negative cash to sabotage them and lower their total. The class at the end of the week with the most positive cash will win a root beer float party. Money will go towards student council.
Waubun Minecraft beat Big Lake High School on Monday 2-1 bringing us one step to state with a 4-3 season record! Competition continues today with Fortnite at 4:30, tune in on the MNVL Twitch to catch the action.
On Friday, January 24th- WOWE students gathered at the White Earth Tribal College for the Mashkiki Maaginigan event- session 2. Students explored careers in dentistry, emergency medicine, pharmacy, and nursing. The event also encourages students to honor their Native American culture in their future careers. The final session will be held in April.

The Ogema Title 1 reading and math teachers create a supportive and engaging learning environment, where students can explore various math concepts, improve their reading comprehension, and build confidence in their abilities. Kick Start recent visit to the School Forest was a experience to remember! From outdoor cooking and fort building to using tools and participating in hands-on activities, students embraced the joy of learning in nature.
Outdoor education fosters creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving while supporting physical and mental well-being. It’s incredible to see how stepping into nature sparks curiosity and builds confidence!
A huge thank-you to our amazing teachers and families for supporting this adventure. Together, we’re creating memories and skills that will last a lifetime!
