General notification for families that a person in the school program community tested positive for COVID-19 Waubun-Ogema-White Earth Public School Wednesday, December 9, 2020 Dear Families, We were notified by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) that a member of the Waubun-Ogema-White Earth Public School community has tested positive for COVID-19. No dates have been identified for potential school community spread. We cannot for privacy reasons share details about the person. At this time, they are staying home and/or working at home until they are well and can no longer spread the disease. We have worked with MDH to identify those who were in close contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19, and no close contacts have been identified in our school community. If you have not been contacted, your child is not considered a close contact, and there is nothing special you need to do. Because the spread of COVID-19 from unknown sources is widespread in Minnesota, you should continue to watch your child for COVID-19 symptoms, which include: Fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher New cough or a cough that gets worse Difficulty/hard time breathing New loss of taste or smell Sore throat New nasal congestion/stuffy or runny nose Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea Muscle pain Extreme fatigue/feeling very tired New severe/very bad headache Chills If your child gets symptoms, they should stay home and you should talk with their doctor or other health care provider to decide if they need to see a doctor and/or to get tested for COVID-19. Colt was selected November Student of the Month. His teacher, Mrs. Oertwich says, “Colt always goes above and beyond what is expected of him at school and at home during distance learning. On his distance learning days, he is up and working on his schoolwork at 7 am. He shows up to every single live Google Meet and would answer every single question if we let him. He is eager and ready to learn every day! Colt is quite the character and has a great sense of humor. He likes to joke with his classmates and teachers. Colt often gives his friends and teachers reasons to laugh and smile. He is so social and loves to visit with everyone. Keep rocking at completing your work early in the day and giving people reasons to laugh & smile, Colt. Pryer was selected November Student of the Month. His teacher, Mrs. Erickson says, “Pryer is very deserving of the Student of the Month award for November! He is such a kind, caring, and helpful student and is such an awesome friend to others! He is always willing to help out his teachers and friends whenever needed. Pryer is also very organized and respectful, raising his hand to talk and joining each google meets with a smile. :) He is such a great leader in our class as well, always participating, including singing and dancing to the songs!
