Early Childhood Screening

Early Childhood Screening

Early Childhood Screening is being offered by the Waubun, Ogema, White Earth Community Schools to children ages 3 ½ to 5.  It will be held on Monday, April 18th from 8:30am-6:00pm at the Ogema Elementary School.  As required by the state, your child must be screened before they enter Kindergarten. If they have attended Head Start then they have already completed this process. If your child has previously and successfully completed this screening they do not have to repeat it.

Early Childhood Screening is a careful check for vision, hearing, and developmental growth.  The screening is done at an age when many concerns can be referred to a doctor and treated before they become permanent and also before they enter school.  As part of the screening, the children will be given a developmental test which includes motor skills, concepts, and communication.  This can help identify children who may have developmental delays. The screening will take an hour and a half and is free of charge.

Please call Suzy Olson at the Ogema School at 473-6175 to schedule an appointment or if you have any questions.
